About Lambani Handwork
Lambani or Lambada embroidery is a traditional craft practiced by the Lambani tribal women of Sanduru, Karnataka. This distinctive art form combines intricate stitches and appliqué with embellishments such as mirrors, coins, shells, cowries, and beads. The motifs are predominantly geometric and arranged in grid-like patterns, reflecting the vibrant cultural identity of the community.
The Sandur Lambani embroidery holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising its cultural significance and safeguarding this heritage craft.
